Terms of Service

1. What Cowriter is

Cowriter is a marketplace that connects songwriters and producers ("writers") with people who want to co-write with them ("guests"). Cowriter is a technology intermediary. We are not a party to any session, and we are not the employer, agent, manager, publisher, or record label of any writer on the platform.

2. No guarantee of outcomes

A Cowriter session is a collaborative co-write. Fees pay for a writer's time and creative contribution during the session. Fees never purchase a song placement, cut, artist hold, publishing deal, record deal, or any commercial outcome, and Cowriter does not promise any such outcome.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or book a session.

4. Ownership of works

You retain all rights in the compositions you create during a session. Cowriter claims no ownership, copyright, or publishing interest in any work created on the platform. Session records ("split sheets") generated on Cowriter document the shares the participants agreed to at the end of the session — see the disclaimer on every split sheet and in Section 8.

5. Conduct

Sessions take place in Cowriter's built-in video rooms. Everyone on Cowriter is required to follow our Code of Conduct, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference — including its rule that neither party may record any part of a session without the other's explicit consent. Accounts that violate the conduct rules — including harassment, spam, no-shows, scams, or inappropriate behavior — may be suspended or terminated at Cowriter's discretion.

6. Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers never touch Cowriter's servers. Refund and cancellation rules are described in full on our Refunds & Cancellations page and are part of these Terms.

7. Memberships

Memberships are billed monthly and auto-renew until you cancel. Cancel any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Cowriter does not offer partial-month refunds on membership fees.

8. Split sheets are not legal advice

Split sheets generated on Cowriter are a session record documenting agreed contribution shares. They are not legal advice and may not constitute a binding publishing agreement in your territory. Register your work with your PRO and consult a music attorney for formal agreements.

9. Disclaimers

The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Cowriter does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cowriter's total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid Cowriter in the twelve months before the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars. Cowriter will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will let you know. Continued use of Cowriter after an update means you accept the new Terms.
